Exactly 30 years since the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
